Güvenilir Akıllı Hesaplama

Çevresel karışıklıklara, kendi sebep olduğu aksaklıklara, insan kullanıcı ve operatörlere ve düşman unsurların olası saldırılarına rağmen; güvenilir bir sistem yasal kullanıcıların ondan tam olarak davranmasını beklediği gibi davranır -başka şekilde değil. Tasarım ve uygulama hatalarından sakınılmalı, varsa bu hatalar giderilmeli ya da en azından göz önünde bulundurulup bir şekilde tolere edilmelidirler. Bu katmanların yalnızca bir kısmını ele almak veya kendileri güvenilir olan bileşenleri biraraya getirmek yeterli değildir. Bu sebeple, güvenilirlik çok-yüzlü ve bütünseldir.
Akıllı bilgi işleme ise algılayan, akıl yürüten, öğrenen ve gerçek dünyada akıllıca davranan sistemleri biraraya getirmeyi amaçlar. Gerçek dünya veri ve süreçleri dinamik ve rasgele olduğundan, akıllı bir sistem büyük hacimli verilerle, kullanıcı tarafından veri üstünde yapılan değişikliklerle ve zarar verici faktörlerin veri dağılımında yaptıkları beklenmedik etkilerle başa çıkabilmelidir. Bu sebeple, bu tarz sistemlerin tasarımları karşılanması zor ölçeklenebilirlik ve sağlamlık gereksinimleri vardır. Bilgisayarla görü araştırmaları durağan imgelerdeki ve video akışındaki anlamlı bilgiyi çıkarma amacı ile görsel veriyi inceleme ve anlama üzerine odaklanır. Bilgisayarla görü algoritmalarının çıktıları arasından şöyle örnekler verilebilir: Nesne tespit etme, nesne tanıma, imge ya da videodaki görüntünün 3B modelini oluşturma, imgeye ya da videoya sanal objeler yerleştirme, nesnelerin piksel seviyesinde bölütlenmesi.
