We are pleased to announce that Prof. Dr. Aytuğ Onan, a faculty member of the Department of Computer Engineering, has been awarded support under the TÜBİTAK 1001 Program.
The project aims to develop artificial intelligence and natural language processing (NLP) methods for automatically extracting drug side effects from Turkish pharmacovigilance texts. Due to the free-text structure, terminological complexity, and the morphological richness of Turkish, this field presents significant challenges for automated analysis.
The study is expected to contribute to health informatics by addressing tasks such as Named Entity Recognition (NER), drug–event relation extraction, multi-label classification, and regulatory-compliant summarization in an integrated manner.
We congratulate Prof. Dr. Aytuğ Onan and the project team and wish them continued success.
