Dr. Aytuğ Onan received his B.Sc. degree in Computer Engineering from Izmir University of Economics, Turkey, in 2010. He completed his M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in Computer Engineering in 2013 and 2016, respectively, both at Ege University, Turkey. Since September 2025, he has been serving as a Full Professor of Computer Science in the Department of Computer Engineering at İzmir Institute of Technology (IZTECH), Turkey. Dr. Onan has made significant contributions to the fields of machine learning, natural language processing, and computational linguistics, publishing numerous research papers in prestigious international journals and conferences. He actively serves as an associate editor and reviewer for several high-impact journals, including Expert Systems with Applications, PLOS ONE, and the International Journal of Machine Learning and Cybernetics. His research primarily focuses on the development of advanced machine learning methodologies, contrastive learning techniques, and large language model–based frameworks for data-driven problem-solving in diverse domains. Dr. Onan has been recognized globally for his impactful research and has been included in the “Most Influential Scientists of the World” list for six consecutive years (2020–2025), compiled by a research team led by Dr. John Ioannidis from Stanford University, USA.
